  • I hated Taylor Swift.

When I set up sound for Taylor Swift and Rascal Flatts in Knoxville, I really had no idea who Taylor was. I was walking around backstage, when a girl walked angrily by me knocking into my shoulder causing me to drop the fuse I was carrying. Without turning to apologize, she kept walking clearly upset. I picked up my fuse and turned around give this unknown girl my best Clint Eastwood stare and growl. Her pretty perfectly curled blonde hair fell up and down on her back.

    "What a bitch."

Then I found out the girl who bumped me into me was Taylor Swift and I thought:

"What an even greater mega bitch."

Ever since then, I automatically grouped this "mega bitch's" music into the Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana group. I turned the station when I heard her songs on the radio. I scowled at her fans. I rolled my eyes at her cheap lyrics and stupid rap with T-Pain. I boycotted Taylor Swift.

But then Kanye West came along and made himself just a bit more infamous.

And I, along with the rest of America apparently, started to pay attention to Taylor Swift. She was in videos and interviews on MTV all of a sudden. I see her on Facebook at an event with a stupid Twilight kid Taylor Lautner. Her name was the most popular search on Yahoo. Then she was on SNL this past weekend, and I found myself laughing at her Monologue song.

I did listen to her more though after seeing her on SNL and found myself liking her song White Horse. I don't consider much of Taylor's music to be country. It is pop with a twang. I would not call myself a fan exactly, but I am interested to see what Taylor Swift, at the age of 19, will do with the rest of her career.

Eh, she's got something going for her, just not a fan of her style, really.

  • Dare2BDiferentt

She probably makes double what most country stars do since her music is played on pop stations and sold in pop cd sections too.

I just wish she had more PUNCH to some of her music instead of it all being depressing and girly and stuff. But then again, she is a 19 year old girl, so what can you expect?

  • GoodbyeFatHelloLife

I like some of her songs...but Im definitely not a fan of hers.

@Dare2BDiferentt - I think the same thing actually. I listen to her songs and it seems like she is singing the same thing over and over again.

  • lookingforastar

I think most people paid attention to her long before Kanye West did his thing. She was already a huge star!  I'm a pretty big fan of her. She seems super nice and I love her music. :)

We were talking about this at work this morning. I didn't know who or what she was (aside from a name on a radio station) until after the Kanye incident.

  • DBF21

I had heard of her before the whole Kanye thing due to Twilight. She does have talent. I like a few of her songs. But you have a point. Sorry she was mean to ya there.

19, so many twists and turns to encounter still...

lol I love her she's so cute. Her music It is a bit like pop isn't it. I didn't like her when she first came out, Love story was the song that got me hooked. I don't have her album or anything but I am a fan.

I hate her song You Belong With Me. I don't like the way it sounds or much less its meaning. I have never really liked Taylor Swift, but I will admit that I felt bad for the lass whenever the Kanye West ordeal took place.

There's just something cute about her. I like her cheesy lyrics for some reason even if they don't make sense!

  • CrazyKey123

@lookingforastar - Eh,I suppose she was just having a bad day then. I know she has always been a star. Her music has always been big on the radio and she has had several sold out shows. However, after the Kanye West incident, the media has begun to focus on her and not just the fans.

@DBF21 - It's fine. I agree that she does have talent. I just want to see her channel it into a more mature sound, but her fan base is so large with what she is doing now that I am not sure if that will ever happen.

@flann00 - I hate it too! I detest the theme behind it. I just see all of this jealousy whenever I listen to the song, and it just fits the whole stereotype that is the "boyfriend stealer" that girls so often argue about or feel insecure over.

The Twilight mockery with Frankenstein was fantastic.

I hate every song I've heard her sing. Especially the "Our Song" one.
I'm okay with people messing with grammar and sentence structure when
it makes the lyrics rhyme, but that's the opposite of what she does.
"When we're on the phone and you talk real slow," for example. "Low"
would make sense - slowness has no impact on secrecy unless his mother
has a very short attention span or something. And, in the same song,
"And when I got home, 'fore I said Amen, asking God if He..." That's
just terrible. It should be "I asked God if He," etc. It makes me want
to punch her in the face. And I think she has the voice of a whiny
    twelve-year-old.

Also, my sister supposedly met some people on a field trip to France who went to school with Taylor Swift, and they said that she was pretty bitchy. Not sure if they actually DID go with her or that they're telling the truth, but... *shrug* So basically there is no point to this comment.

  • Trigger821

she's really pretty and I like her songs

  • shoujo

I don't listen to her much, but I always thought she would be one of those "nice" people who didn't let fame get to their head. I wonder if she was having a super bad day the night she ran into you? Of course, that's no excuse to be rude ... but you never know. Sometimes when we are extremely upset we can act bitchy without even knowing it. :)

  • CrazyKey123

@randaness - I agree that her lyrics are a bit horrid, but I think she uses the word "slow" because it adds a southern appeal. People in the south do tend to talk slower than most, but as I said earlier, I do not consider her to be a country music singer in the least.

@shoujo - Yeah, perhaps. But first-impression wise she really did start out on a bad note for me. I really hope she doesn't late the latest media obsession with her ruin her career or make her become bitter.

  • TheCheshireGrins

I like her music. I'm kind of disappointed that you had a bad, rude run-in with her though. Hopefully she was just having a bad day although it's not excusable to not apologize for bumping other people!

  • the_fur_pimp

omg!  taylor swift bumped into you and you got mad!  omg i would let her punch me in the face if she wanted!  haha.  yeah even though i'm this big cool macho stud i have to admit when i'm driving alone in my car i will crank up swift and sing like a little girl!   shes to damn cute!

  • ccarothers

Here music is cutesy and easy listening.  I don't mind it.

  • Keeko1

... I thought this was an anti-post about her.  I'm the opposite of you:  I started liking her (her songs mostly) and then gradually began to change my views on her.  I think she's in the spotlight too much nowadays.

  • breakfreely

I didn't see her on SNL but here monologue was hilarious! I'm just kind of tired of her at this point. I loved her music in the beginning but over time it just all seems the same. :(

  • dhwescott

I've done two dance routines with her songs and they are always so much fun~!! I'm sorry to hear about your unfortunate experience with her though. It must be cool to work on the sound equipment though behind stage.

Well, I am a fan of her music. It's fun to sing to, and people usually can relate to it at some point in time. Sometimes I wish she would sing about something a little different though.I'm kinda worried about how total fame will effect her. She could get really messed up. And of course, she's gorgeous, which explains why she's ended up dating all the jerks in her songs. Well, we'll see how she turns out.
